Thalapathy Vijay Rally Stampede in Karur: 39 Dead, Dozens Injured at TVK Political Event

A stampede-like crowd crush occurred during actor-turned-politician Vijay’s campaign event in Karur, Tamil Nadu, on the evening of September 27, 2025, causing disaster. (AP News) What was supposed to be a demonstration of widespread support devolved into one of the state’s worst such events in recent memory. What took place? • At approximately 7:45 p.m., the rally took place in Veluswamypuram, which is located along the Karur–Erode route. • The crowded audience rushed toward the stage barricades when Vijay eventually showed up, some hours later than anticipated. Chaos broke out as many guests passed out from the heat and exhaustion. • Children were taken from their homes, individuals were trampled underfoot, and emergency access was severely impeded during the rush. The Price of Human Life: • Tamil Nadu’s Health Minister Ma Subramanian has confirmed that at least 36 people, including eight children, perished and about 40 were injured. • According to later accounts, the death toll may be higher—39 people have been killed and over 80 injured, according to some authorities. • Men, women, and children were among the dead, demonstrating the indiscriminacy of such tragedies. The Things That Went Wrong : It appears that a number of variables came together to make this incident a disaster: 1. Significant overpopulation that exceeds projections Tens of thousands of people showed up, greatly beyond the safe capacity, despite the organizers’ earlier request for authorization for a far smaller turnout. 2. Prolonged waiting and delayed arrivalThe crowd’s discomfort was increased by the lengthy wait in the sweltering heat. People became tired and restless as time went on. 3. Inadequate safety planning and inadequate crowd controlEmergency routes, volunteers, and security guards couldn’t handle the unexpected spike. There were no maintained clear evacuation routes or efficient buffer zones. 4. Fatigue, dehydration, and heatDue to heat fatigue or a lack of drink, many guests reportedly passed out before the crowd…

 27th Happy Birthday Google!

We’re commemorating the birthday of Google today, a business that has ingrained itself into our daily lives! You’ve probably used Google to get information whether you’re looking for a recipe, figuring out your route, translating a word, or even just resolving a friendly argument. The progress that Google has made since its founding on September 27, 1998, by two Stanford undergraduates, Sergey Brin and Larry Page, is astounding. What began as a research project has developed into one of the most influential tech firms globally, influencing the internet and our interactions with it. Google has given us so much more since its modest beginnings as a basic search engine: Gmail, Google Maps, Android, YouTube (yep, they own it too!), Google Photos, Docs, Drive, and more. Not to be overlooked is Google’s whimsical side: the Doodles! We now look forward to those entertaining and frequently interactive logos on the homepage, particularly on days like today. So let’s hope for more creativity, curiosity, and the occasional correction in the coming year. Thank you for making it a little easier to browse the web, Google! Happy Birthday!

Harshit Rana attacked the Sri Lankan opener while under pressure. With the first ball of the fourth over, the Indian bowler struck Nissanka on the helmet. After the hit, the 27-year-old had the physio removed and had a concussion test performed. Nissanka’s spectacular takedown changed the course of events. With a slower delivery, Rana went after the stumps, and the SL opener effortlessly deposited it to the midwicket barrier for a boundary. After that, Rana delivered a full tempo, short-length ball that Nissanka easily flipped over the boundary for maximum effect. After that, Harshit delivered a ball at 147 kph, which Nissanka smashed back to the bowler. A staring battle broke out as Rana missed his retaliatory shot at the stumps.
