We’re commemorating the birthday of Google today, a business that has ingrained itself into our daily lives!
You’ve probably used Google to get information whether you’re looking for a recipe, figuring out your route, translating a word, or even just resolving a friendly argument.
The progress that Google has made since its founding on September 27, 1998, by two Stanford undergraduates, Sergey Brin and Larry Page, is astounding. What began as a research project has developed into one of the most influential tech firms globally, influencing the internet and our interactions with it.
Google has given us so much more since its modest beginnings as a basic search engine: Gmail, Google Maps, Android, YouTube (yep, they own it too!), Google Photos, Docs, Drive, and more.
Not to be overlooked is Google’s whimsical side: the Doodles! We now look forward to those entertaining and frequently interactive logos on the homepage, particularly on days like today.
So let’s hope for more creativity, curiosity, and the occasional correction in the coming year.
Thank you for making it a little easier to browse the web, Google! Happy Birthday!
